75th Anniversary Celebration
Anna Quindlen Sparkles at PPIN's Diamond Anniversary Celebration

Nearly 800 people, each of them champions of choice, joined us at the Indiana Roof Ballroom Oct. 1 to listen to Pulitzer Prize winner Anna Quindlen and help Planned Parenthood of Indiana celebrate 75 years of protecting, providing and promoting reproductive health in Indiana. The evening was an overwhelming success, buoyed by the hard work of our staff and a small army of dedicated volunteers. Former Indiana First Lady Maggie Kernan, Debbie Simon and Wayne Zink also delighted the crowd with their speeches about the importance of personal choice, reproductive freedom, strong parenting and responsible sexuality.

Our silent auction of original art by Hoosier artists raised nearly $17,000 (thanks to a last-minute matching gift by an anonymous donor) and, overall, the event raised more than $175,000. The proceeds helped move us that much closer to reaching our $7 million Tapestry of Strength goal and satisfying our Kresge Challenge. We have less than $1 million remaining to raise by December 31, 2007.

Live music, excellent food and a slide show, designed by Luke Smith and board member Samantha Miller, that spanned 75 years of dedicated service completed the evening.
