Planned Parenthood Young Leaders Rocked Out In Celebration of Women's Suffrage Day
Planned Parenthood Young Leaders (PPYL) celebrated Women's Suffrage Day a little early this year at Spencer's Stadium Tavern. PPYL joined with Drinking Liberally Indianapolis to literally rock out in celebration of that groundbreaking day 88 years ago when women gained the right to vote.
There's no doubt that those who worked tirelessly in the early 1900s to ensure that American women had the right to vote celebrated when their goal was finally achieved. More than eight decades later, the celebration continued.
"Rockin' the Vote was a really cool way to integrate so many things that young people enjoy and care about–politics, socializing, beer and a very important cause in the upcoming election. Not to mention….bringing on the rock," said Ashley Plummer, PPYL member and PPIN communications coordinator. "It's events like Rockin' the Vote that bring people out for one thing while educating them on the importance of another."
Over 50 "rockers" attended the event where they grabbed the mic and took the stage, or grabbed a pen and signed on to support Prevention First, Planned Parenthood of Indiana's legislation package which calls for increased access to birth control and honest information about sex. PPYL collected over $200 in donations that will go to support PPIN's mission.
Thanks to our event partners Drinking Liberally Indianapolis, Spencer's Stadium Tavern and Nuvo.
