No one can ever know all there is to know about human sexuality. Many adults worry that they cannot provide their child with all the information they need about sexuality-related issues.
If you are like many people, your sex education in school may have focused on pregnancy and birth, but not on how to avoid unintended pregnancy. Or it may have dealt with puberty and anatomy but not relationships or intimacy. You may have been lucky enough to have parents or other family members who explained the importance of making good decisions about sexuality and were very upfront about sexual issues. Alternatively, you may have received virtually no information about sexuality when you were growing up. Many of us grew up in households where we did not have parental role models who communicated effectively in healthy and helpful ways.
Whatever your sex ed history, by visiting these pages, you are headed in the right direction towards helping your teen learn more about sexuality.
This page contains links that might be useful as you think about questions you might have about sexuality or those that your child has asked.
