A bright and airy waiting room greets clients at the Valparaiso Planned Parenthood center, now located at 2803 Boilermaker Ct. (#1F). "When I tell clients it's behind Menards, they know exactly where it is," said manager Char Race.

Pregnancy tests, HIV tests and testing and treatment for STDs for men and women at Planned Parenthood is just part of the affordable health care offered. "I don't know the square footage," said Ms. Race, "but the health center seems three times as large as our old site."

The Planned Parenthood in Valparaiso performed almost 1,400 Pap tests for cervical cancer last year, so these new exam rooms will be busier than ever. "We expect an increase in patients because our new location is so close to area shopping. Many of our clients work in retail or in other types of service jobs where they need affordable health care and birth control," explained Ms. Race. "Others like the convenience of our location close to shopping and other businesses."
