News and Stories: Planned Parenthood of Indiana Increases Successful Adoptions
Planned Parenthood of Indiana (PPIN) is delighted to announce it has increased its record of successful adoptions. The three recent adoption placements began as referrals from PPIN health centers in Indianapolis, Richmond and New Albany to a partner adoption agency, Independent Adoption Center. To date, PPIN has assisted with a total of seven adoptions in the state of Indiana.
PPIN has adoption information available in all of its health centers so that women can make well-informed decisions about what is best for them and their families. PPIN offers free, on-site adoption counseling at three of its health center locations. PPIN's adoption services are provided by independent adoption agencies. The Merrillville health center location partners with Adoption Center for Family Building; the Indianapolis and Bloomington locations work with Independent Adoption Center.
"PPIN offers women and their partners an array of services and information for sexual and reproductive health," said PPIN President and CEO Betty Cockrum. "We help them explore all of their options, including adoption, in the event of an unintended pregnancy."
"This increase in adoptions from PPIN referrals is exciting," said Independent Adoption Center Midwest Branch Director Kathy Wilkerson. "We've been able to help make three families very happy and the birth mothers can rest easy knowing that their children are in loving homes."
"It's wonderful to have a partner like PPIN that assists us in our efforts to offer caring support to pregnant women and teenagers," said Adoption Center for Family Building Executive Director Tobi Ehrenpreis. "With their referrals, we expect to continue to increase the number of babies we've placed with families in Northwest Indiana."
