Sexually Transmitted Infections

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are transferred from one partner to another during sex play. People often refer to sexually transmitted infections and sexually transmitted diseases. Medically, however, infections only become diseases if they produce symptoms and sexually transmitted infections often do not.

There are many different kinds of sexually transmitted infections and diseases, and they are very common; more than half of us will get one at some time in our lives. Learning about different STIs can be helpful, whether you may have an STI or are just curious about them. Use the list below if you are interested in learning more about sexually transmitted infections.

Planned Parenthood of Indiana provides STI prevention and treatment services. We are dedicated to reducing the number of Hoosiers infected with STIs and to improving overall reproductive health in the state of Indiana. Locate the health center nearest you for more information about our STI and reproductive health services.
